A new year. While 2007 certainly might have been one, if not the most difficult years of my life-I am looking toward 2008 with renewed focus, energy, hope. For Aiden and myself. I took some time away from this blog - to step back and settle in a little bit, to life-which I wasn't doing much of at all. I was letting life live me instead of the other way around.
time for change.
I have a long list of goals for the year that I have been writing down in a small notebook and keeping in my bag as I travel. A "wish list for living" if you will. Priority number one being a refocus on finding outside care for Aiden. While school has certainly helped him leaps and bounds, he is not progressing as well as I would like in all things OT related-writing, tying of shoes, dressing himself etc. and he gets frustrated quite easily when things are not progressing at a pace that he feels ok with. He turned the big 6 late last year, and I sometimes worry that there is a "window" of learning that is quickly passing him by. Priority number one.
I am also excited to try my hand at creating scrapbook pages for others. I have been tossing around this idea for some time, and dabbled here and there at it a couple of years ago, but things are cookin' in the brain again and I am excited at what possibilities and opportunities it might bring. I have had some steady work from Loni, which is exciting, and am thrilled to make scrapbooking a bigger part of my life in the new year.
While I cannot say that I will be any better at updating this blog as I was last year, I most certainly will try.
Our holidays were good, quiet, and spent here in New York. There are still five or six presents to be opened that are waiting in the closet when Aiden feels ready. Our trees are still up (YIKES!), but they are fake, super small, and they make me smile, so what the heck? I do need to take them down this week.
Hoping that everyone has had a fruitful happy, productive new year thus far.

glad to see you blogging again. I just love your spunk and I know that 2008 will bring you great things. I can't wait to see new layouts of Aiden.

So good to hear an update from you Nia! Think about you often, check in now and then so I was pleasantly surprised to see you had posted. I simply cannot believe that Aiden is six-years-old! Amazing! Time surely flies. Greyson is graduating high school this year. I remember when he was Aiden's age like it was yesterday.
About tying shoelaces - every one of mine learned at different ages. Jaiden really only got it down last year and she's in third grade. I'm just saying that to ease your mind a bit. I know it will all work out for you, it's great that you're pro-active.
So glad to hear the renewed interest in scrapbooking. I know it will work out great for you! It's nice that we've started a new year and I know that it will be a great year for you and Aiden!

Dear Nia,
Just a few words to share and inspire...that it does get better. I've enjoyed your work for a couple of years and missed you when I didn't see it anywhere. Since finding your blog and reading your updates...you and Aiden have been heavy on my heart because I have been there before. Divorce, custody..and all the ugly stuff that goes with it. But, I can say now...what I didn't know I would be able to say way back then... beauty really does arise out of the ashes. My children are grown now and you know what...it all turned out all right. It wasn't easy but with prayer, extra perservance...a couple of goals and loads of tears (try not to utilize these:)...it all worked out. Heres to a fresh start for you and may you quickly learn...it is all going to be all right. Keeping you in my prayers. Praisley.

Dear Nia,
I miss you already! Sorry to have run off so quickly. Didn't know I was going to leave TCS until 3 hours prior! It just kind of had to happen. I was done.
Took a look at a couple of your pics---so great! You're too awesome. I think you could do anything you wanted. Anyway, hope things are going well!
I'm going to get people together sometime in the next few weeks for a Lindsay-leaves-TCS partaaay. I hope you'll join us! I'll get you the info when I figure it all out.
Hugs,
Lindsay
